Morgan Hawkins Award Female Athlete of the Week Week Of 11/28/2022 Sport American Rivers Conference School University of Dubuque Year Sophomore Position Forward Hometown Dubuque, Iowa High School Hempstead Female Athlete of the Week – Women’s Basketball – Player of the Week Morgan Hawkins, University of Dubuque So., F, Dubuque, Iowa/Hempstead Hawkins led the Spartans to a 1-1 week with a 72-78 overtime loss to Wartburg and a 71-36 victory over Cornell College. The sophomore forward averaged 20.5 points and nine rebounds per game this week. Hawkins recorded a double-double to start the week in Wednesday’s victory over the Knights. The Dubuque native scored a team best 28 points and picked up a team best 12 rebounds. Hawkins played in 23 minutes in the victory over Cornell, scoring 13 points and picking up six rebounds. Additionally, Hawkins recorded three steals and added two assists in the two games. The sophomore forward finished the week with a 54% field goal percentage, including 75% from three-point range, and 71% from the free throw line. The Spartans improved to a 3-4 record this season. The Dubuque native is garnering the first Player of the Week honors in her career.
