High School St. Viator Women’s Soccer – Defensive Player of the Week Payton McDonnell, Loras College Sr., MF, Arlington Heights, Ill./St. Viator McDonnell helped lead the No. 15/11 Duhawks to a conference tournament title with wins over Luther (5-0) and Simpson (6-1). The senior midfielder played a vital role in holding off opponents’ attacks and setting up plays offensively. McDonnell played in 82 minutes of the shutout victory over Luther, while holding the Norse to just four shots. In the semifinal contest, McDonnell scored a goal and tallied three assists. In the championship match, Loras held the Storm to just four shots on goal. The senior midfielder played in 87 minutes, tallying three assists and scored on a penalty kick. The tournament title win secured the No. 15/11 Duhawks spot in the NCAA tournament. McDonnell is a three-time All-Conference performer in addition to being named the 2021 A-R-C Defensive Most Valuable Player. The Arlington Heights, Illinois native is garnering her fifth-career Defensive Player of the Week honor (10/28/19, 9/20/21, 10/25/21, 10/24/22, 11/7/22).
