Kershner’s standout sophomore season for the Spartans saw her dominate defensively, as she managed to total 52 blocked shots and average 3.5 in 15 league games, both of which are top marks in the conference. On the boards she averaged 5.2rpg and grabbed 78 total. Offensively she owned a scoring average of 8.6ppg.
Since the league began honoring a Defensive Player of the Year in 2010-11, the Bangor prep becomes the first player from Dubuque to earn the accolade. Additionally, Kershner was selected first-team all-conference, as the defensive player of the year is not honored as all-conference unless selected to the first or second team by the league’s head coaches. These are the first all-conference accolades for the sophomore Spartan.
