Derrick Smith Award Track Performer of the Week (Men) Week Of 5/17/2021 Sport Outdoor Track & Field School Wartburg College Year Sophomore Position Hometown New Orleans, Louisiana High School Cohen College Prep Co-Male Athlete of the Week – Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Performer of the Week Derrick Smith, Wartburg College So., New Orleans, La./Cohen College Prep Smith joined teammate Dallas Wright as A-R-C Co-Track Performer of the Year. Smith collected two gold medals at this year’s A-R-C Outdoor Track & Field Championships, winning both the 100- and 200-meters. His winning time in the 100-meter was 10.64, followed by a 21.52 time in the 200-meter. He was also on the Wartburg 4x100-meter relay team where the Knights sizzled at 41.13, a new meet record. The Knights were crowned the 2021 A-R-C Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Champions with a team score of 247 points. Smith is garnering his first-career Outdoor Track Performer of the Week honor.
