Shelby Cook Award Player of the Week Week Of 10/13/2020 Sport Women's Tennis School Luther College Year Junior Position Hometown Cedar Rapids, Iowa High School Kennedy Women’s Tennis – Player of the Week Shelby Cook, Luther College Jr., Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy Cook went 4-0 this past weekend with team wins over Coe and Wartburg. The Norse defeated then unbeaten Wartburg 8-1 on Saturday with Cook defeating Wartburg’s Olivia Phillips at No. 2 singles (6-1, 6-1) clinching the team victory. On Sunday, in the match that clinched the conference championship, Cook defeated Coe’s Lassen at No. 1 (6-1, 6-0) which also clinched the Norse victory. In doubles, Cook and Devon Bourget, at No. 1, defeated Phillips/Rottinghaus of Wartburg (8-4) and Coe’s Lassen/Sundermann (8-2). The junior finished the regular season going undefeated in both singles and doubles, posting 6-0 records in both. Cook helped the Norse claim their 29th conference championship, after going 8-0 in conference play for the second straight season. The Cedar Rapids, Iowa native is earning her fifth career Player of the Week honor and her second of the season (4/8/19, 9/10/19, 9/23/19, 9/21/20, 10/13/10).
