Darby Hawtrey Award Female Athlete of the Week Week Of 11/11/2019 Sport American Rivers Conference School University of Dubuque Year Sophomore Position Hometown Clarence, Iowa High School North Cedar Female Athlete of the Week – Volleyball – Offensive Player of the Week Darby Hawtrey, University of Dubuque So., OH, Clarence, Iowa/North Cedar Hawtrey helped lead Dubuque to their second consecutive A-R-C tournament title last week. The third seeded Spartans defeated Buena Vista 3-2 on Tuesday, November 5 before taking down the tournament’s top two seeds in Loras and Wartburg. In the win over BVU, Hawtrey finished with 14 kills, three digs, and one solo block. In the Spartan’s 3-2 semifinal win over Loras, Hawtrey had an attack percentage of .268 with 16 kills. The second year outside hitter amassed 20 kills with an attack percentage of .231 in their 3-1 title victory over Wartburg. As the league’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament, the NCAA announced Dubuque will play in the St. Paul, Minn. Regional with a first round match up against St. Thomas on Thursday, November. 14 at 8:00 p.m. This is Hawtrey’s third career Offensive Player of the Week accolade (11/11/19, 9/3/19, 9/16/18).
