Joy Smith Award Offensive Player of the Week Week Of 11/11/2019 Sport Women's Soccer School Wartburg College Year Sophomore Position Hometown Polk City, Iowa High School Homeschooled Women’s Soccer – Offensive Player of the Week Joy Smith, Wartburg College So., F, Polk City, Iowa/Home Schooled Smith tallied three points in two games this last week, en route to Wartburg’s A-R-C women’s soccer tournament championship. The Polk City, Iowa native helped guide Wartburg to their third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. In the semifinal match against Dubuque, the sophomore tallied one assist in the 4-0 win over the Spartans. In the championship match against Luther, Smith scored one of the Knights’ two goals en route to the 2-0 championship win. Smith now has two career Offensive Player of the Week awards, both coming during the 2019 campaign (11/11/19, 9/16/19). The Knights will host one of sixteen NCAA regionals, with their first-round match being against Concordia Wisconsin at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, November 16.
