Grace Strawser Award Defensive Player of the Week Week Of 11/11/2019 Sport Volleyball School University of Dubuque Year Senior Position Hometown Bettendorf, Iowa High School Pleasant Valley Volleyball – Defensive Player of the Week Grace Strawser, University of Dubuque Sr., L, Bettendorf, Iowa/Pleasant Valley Strawser helped guide the Spartans to back-to-back A-R-C Volleyball conference tournament championships, going 3-0 on the week. The Spartans are in the NCAA tournament for the second consecutive season. In the first round of the A-R-C tournament, she collected 28 digs in the five-set win over Buena Vista. Against rival Loras, the senior tallied 34 digs on the night to beat the Duhawks one last time in her career. The libero’s best effort came on championship night where she totaled 41 digs en route to the Spartans tournament championship. The senior now has two career Defensive Player of the Week honors, both coming in 2019 (11/11/19, 9/2/19). As the league’s automatic qualifier to the NCAA Tournament, the NCAA announced Dubuque will play in the St. Paul, Minn. Regional with a first round match up against St. Thomas on Thursday, November. 14 at 8:00 p.m.
