Carina Collet Award Female Athlete of the Week Week Of 11/4/2019 Sport American Rivers Conference School Wartburg College Year Junior Position Hometown Verona, Illinois High School Seneca Female Athlete of the Week – Women’s Cross Country – Runner of the Week Carina Collet, Wartburg College Jr., Verona, Ill./Seneca Collet earned her second-consecutive A-R-C women’s cross country individual championship on Saturday, Nov. 2. Collet's winning time of 19.18.7 was eight-seconds-and-change better than second place. Because of snow and rain earlier in the week, both courses were altered, and the women's race shortened to 5,000 meters. Next up for Collet and the Knights is the 2019 NCAA DIII Central Regional, held at Wartburg on Saturday, Nov. 16. The top two teams from Division IIII’s eight regions will qualify for the 2019 NCAA DIII Championships Saturday, Nov. 23 in Louisville, Ky. Additionally, 16 at-large teams will be select by the NCAA committee and the top seven finishers (excluding individuals from the top two teams) from each region qualify for the National Championship field. Collet picked up All-American honors a season ago, finishing 15th at the NCAA DIII Championships. This is Collett’s fifth career Runner of the Week honor (11/4/19, 9/10/19, 10/15/18, 10/1/18, 9/2/18).
