In the season opening event, Haynes went 5-0 with four of the wins coming by way of bonus points. In the opening round he won by tech fall over Augustana. Haynes won his second round by TF over Iowa Lakes Community College. Won by Fall over Iowa Central Community College in the quarterfinals. Won by Maj dec. over Upper Iowa University (DII) in the semifinals. Took an 8-3 decision in the championship match over Donny Schmit of Upper Iowa. (DII). This is the sophomore’s first career Wrestler of the Week honor, and Nebraska Wesleyan’s first ever Wrestler of the Week winner.
