Joe Freiburger Award Runner of the Week (Men) Week Of 11/4/2019 Sport Cross Country School Wartburg College Year Junior Position Hometown Holy Cross, Iowa High School Western Dubuque Male Athlete of the Week – Men’s Cross Country – Runner of the Week Joe Freiburger, Wartburg College Jr., Holy Cross, Iowa/Western Dubuque Freiburger claimed the 2019 A-R-C men’s cross country individual title on Saturday, Nov. 2. The second-year runner posted a winning time of 26 minutes, 47.6 seconds on the muddy 8,000-meter course. His efforts helped the Knights to their 15th team title in program history. Freiburger is now a two-time All-Conference award winner, having placed fourth a season ago. Wartburg hosts the 2019 NCAA DIII Central Regional on Saturday, Nov. 16., with runners vying for a spot in the NCAA Championship field. The 2019 NCAA DIII Championships is held Saturday, Nov. 23 in Louisville, Ky. Freiburger finished just outside of All-American distinction at the 2018 NCAA Championships, coming in 41st. This marks the fourth Runner of the Week honor for the junior (11/3/19, 10/21/19, 9/23/19, 9/9/19).
