Mariah Fritz Award Female Athlete of the Week Week Of 5/6/2019 Sport American Rivers Conference School Central College Year Senior Position Hometown Tama, Iowa High School East Marshall Female Athlete of the Week - Softball – Pitcher of the Week Mariah Fritz, Central College Sr., RHP, Tama, Iowa/East Marshall Fritz threw all 14 innings on Saturday, May 4, pitching a complete game shutout against second-seeded Coe in the A-R-C tournament championship game. Fritz’s efforts helped the Dutch capture their sixth conference tournament title and first since 2015. In the semifinal contest against fifth-seeded Dubuque, Fritz tossed all seven innings, giving up six hits, allowing two earned runs, striking out three and walking three. The title game saw Fritz hold Coe to a .200 batting average. It was announced today, May 6, that Central will host the regional rounds of the 2019 NCAA Division III softball championships. The Dutch will face Lake Forest in the opening game. This is Fritz’s second Pitcher of the Week honor in as many weeks (5/6/19, 4/29/19).
