Sydney Illg Award Position Player of the Week Week Of 4/15/2019 Sport Softball School Wartburg College Year Freshman Position Hometown Grimes, Iowa High School Johnston Female Athlete of the Week - Softball – Position Player of the Week Sydney Illg, Wartburg College Fr., SS, Grimes, Iowa/Johnston Illg helped Wartburg to a 2-2 record on the week, including a run-rule win over Central and a win over No.17 Luther. The first-year player was the team's leading hitter with a .615 batting average (8-of-13). Over the four contests she drove in seven runs, scored eight and hammered three home runs. Additionally, she was 5-for-5 in stolen bases. In the Knight’s 11-0 win over Central, Illg was 2-for-3 with two RBI, three runs scored and three stolen bases. Illg was 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs scored, one home run and two stolen bases in Wartburg’s 5-2 win over Luther. This is the first Player of the Week honor for Illg.
