The toss tied his previous school record and ranks second in NCAA Division III this season. He placed sixth in the shot with a throw of 16.88m (55-4.75), earning 6th of nine competitors, all other competitors were Division I. Murfin already holds NCAA Division III’s second-best mark in the shot this season at 17.49m (57-4.75). At the 2018 Conference Indoor Championships, Murfin was voted Field Performer of the Year. A season ago Murfin took 3rd in both the shot put and weight throw at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. Murfin is earning his ninth Indoor Track & Field – Field Performer of the Week accolade (2/18/19, 1/28/19, 1/21/19, 12/10/18, 2/25/18, 2/11/18, 1/19/17, 1/22/17, 2/8/16).
