High School Wheaton-Warrenville South Male Athlete of the Week – Men’s Basketball – Player of the Week Josh Ruggles, Loras College Sr., Guard, Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton-Warrenville South The Wheaton-Warrenville South prep averaged 29PPG, 3.33RPG, 2APG and 1.67SPG as the Duhawks went 2-1 last week, including a win over top-ranked NWU. In Loras’ 84-76 upending of No.1 NWU, Ruggles scored 21 of his 27 points in the second half. He added 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals in the win. The loss for NWU was their first of the season and first in 32 games, dating back to January 2018. The win over NWU was the second top-five opponent that Loras has defeated this season. On Jan. 21 Ruggles helped the Duhawks defeat Bunea Vista 75-74 with 43 points and four rebounds. Ruggles went 11-for-18 from 3FG, tying the American Rivers Conference record for 3-pointers made in a game. On Jan. 23 Ruggles tallied 17 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists and 3 steals, but the Duhawks came up short, falling to Wartburg on the road 88-83. Ruggles was the Co-Offensive MVP of the league a season ago. This is the third Player of the Week accolade for Ruggles (1/28/19, 1/21/18, 11/26/17).
