High School Illini West Men’s Indoor Track & Field – Field Performer of the Week Blaze Murfin, University of Dubuque Grad., Dallas City, Ill./Illini West Murfin helped the Spartan men to a second-place finish on Saturday, Jan. 19 at UD's Solomon Butler Classic. He finished 1st in both the weight and shot. He set a new meet, facility and school record to win the weight throw (20.39m/66-10.75). The toss also set the new No.1 mark in NCAA Division III. His winning toss of 17.49m/57-04.75. in the shot put also stands No.1 in NCAA Division III. At the 2018 Conference Indoor Championships, Murfin was voted Field Performer of the Year. A season ago Murfin took 3rd in both the shot put and weight throw at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships. Murfin is earning his seventh Indoor Track & Field – Field Performer of the Week accolade (1/21/19, 12/10/18, 2/25/18, 2/11/18, 1/19/17, 1/22/17, 2/8/16).
