High School River Valley Male Athlete of the Week – Men’s Cross Country – Runner of the Week Alec Bass, University of Dubuque Sr., Spring Green, Wis./River Valley Bass won the American Rivers Conference men’s individual title in 26:03.04, the first Spartan to win an individual conference title since 1962. His margin of victory was five seconds better than second-place. Bass is one of the most decorated track & field/cross country athletes in conference history, having been indoor track MVP in 2017 and now earning the honors in cross country. Bass’ top finish at this year’s championships makes him a three-time all-conference cross country performer. In 2015 Bass finished 10th and followed that performance up with a 2nd-place finish in 2016 before injuries plagued him in 2017. Bass is now a four-time Men’s Cross-Country Runner of the Week award winner (10/29/18,9/3/18, 9/10/17, 9/4/16).
