Atwater also received the honor in 2016. At this year’s IIAC Championships the Davenport Central prep took first in the shotput and second in the hammer throw. She won the shotput with a mark of 48-05.50, which stands third in NCAA Division III. In the hammer throw Atwater had a second-place toss of 54.81-m, which bested the previous IIAC championship mark of 54.32-m. Her hammer throw mark at this year’s IIAC championships currently ranks 8th in the nation. Atwater is the owner of the IIAC all-time hammer throw record at 55.45-m, which she set in 2016. This is Atwater’s seventh Outdoor Field Performer of the Week honor (5/13/18, 4/29/18, 4/23/17, 5/16/16, 5/9/16, 4/18/16, 4/11/16).
