High School Glenbard East Men’s Outdoor Track & Field – Track Performer of the Year Patrick Mikel, Loras College So., Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East Mikel ran his way to his second IIAC Outdoor MVP honor on Saturday, winning the men's 200 and 400. In the 200 he crossed the line in a time of 21.39, which currently ranks ninth in NCAA Division III. Mikel ran 47.24 in the 400, setting the IIAC Championship in the process. The previous IIAC Championship record was held by Tyler Sherden of Luther, 2004 (47.39). On April 20 Mikel set the IIAC all-time 400-meter record when he ran a 47.00, to best Josh Hauser’s (Wartburg 2005) time of 47.28. Mikel’s 47.00 stands No.1 in NCAA Division III and his time of 47.24 is tied for second-best. The Glenbard East prep also ran the anchor leg of the winning 4x400 relay team.
