Marissa Promes Award Female Athlete of the Week Week Of 4/8/2018 Sport American Rivers Conference School Buena Vista University Year Junior Position Hometown Jefferson, Iowa High School Jefferson-Scranton Female Athlete of the Week – Softball – Pitcher of the Week Marissa Promes, Buena Vista University Jr., Jefferson, Iowa/Jefferson-Scranton Promes went 2-1 on the week with both victories coming against No.6-ranked Illinois Wesleyan. She went the distance in Friday's victory, scattering four hits and striking out six in 27 batters faced. The Jefferson-Scranton prep came on in relief during Saturday's 1-0 win, pitching the final three innings. Over her three innings of work she faced 12 batters, striking out three and allowing three hits. In a 3-2 loss to DePauw, Promes went 6.2 innings, striking out three of 30 batters faced, and giving up nine hits. She pitched 16.2 innings overall on the week, striking out 12 and walking only one. Promes is now 6-2 overall. Promes is the first BVU student-athlete to earn Pitcher of the Week honors since April 5, 2015 (Moriah Guyett).
