Anna Stiein Award Female Athlete of the Week Week Of 3/4/2018 Sport American Rivers Conference School Luther College Year Senior Position Hometown Cedar Falls, Iowa High School Waterloo Columbus Female Athlete of the Week – Softball – Position Player of the Week Anna Strien, Luther College Sr., SS, Cedar Falls, Iowa/Waterloo Columbus Strien batted .533 with 5-RBI and scored five times in four games at the ACM Tournament in Rochester, Minn., where she was named to the all-tournament team. Strien was also credited with seven putouts and five assists. Luther finished the two days with a record of 3-1 and is now 5-1 overall. Game 1: Luther defeated Beloit 5-0 with Strien going 3-4 at the plate, recording 3-RBI and 1-triple to finish with a .750 batting average. Game 2: Strien hit .500 in Luther’s 8-0 win over Cornell, going 2-4 with 2-RBI, and 2-doubles. Game 3: In a 3-1 loss to Lake Forest Strien went 1-4 with 1-double, closing the game with a .250 batting average. Game 4: In Luther’s 8-0 win over Ripon Strien hit .667, going 2-3 and scoring one run. The 2017 All-American is currently batting .522 that includes four doubles, one triple and 9-RBI six games into the season. This is Strien’s third Female Athlete of the Week and Position Player of the Week honor (3/4/18, 4/2/17, 3/5/17).
