Katie Sommer Award Player of the Week Week Of 2/11/2018 Sport Women's Basketball School Wartburg College Year Senior Position Hometown Cedar Rapids, Iowa High School Linn-Mar Women’s Basketball – Co-Player of the Week Katie Sommer, Wartburg College Sr., Point Guard, Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Linn-Mar As the Knights extended their win total to 23 last week, Sommer led the Knights in scoring (18.5 PPG), assists (6.50APG), steals (8) and free throw percentage (.875) while also ranking second on the team in rebounds (6.5RPG). In the Knight’s 63-54 road win over Luther, Sommer tallied 9-points, 8-rebounds, 6-assists and 1-steal. Sommer totaled 28-points, 5-rebounds, 7-assists and 7-steals in Wartburg’s 99-83 victory over Nebraska Wesleyan. With two league games remaining, Wartburg has captured the IIAC regular season championship for the second-straight year and seventh time in program history. The Knights are currently ranked No. 2 in D3hoops.com and No. 3 in WBCA polls. Sommer was named Iowa Conference Offensive MVP a season ago and is two-time All-Iowa Conference selection.
