She was named MVP at both tournaments Wartburg played in (UC Santa Cruz and Wartburg's annual Holiday Tournament). Through the four contests, Murphy led the Knights with 14.5 PPG, 6.8 RPG and .85 FT %. In Wartburg’s 75-54 victory over University of California, Santa Cruz, Murphy scored 11-points, grabbed 7-rebounds, added 2-assists and 2-steals. Murphy totaled 13-points, 7-rebounds and 1-assist in the Knight’s 53-50 win over California Lutheran University. In an 83-65 win against UW-Superior, Murphy totaled 14-points, 6-rebounds, 2-assists and one steal. No. 4/11 Wartburg defeated No. 11/17 UW-Whitewater 64-55 for the Holiday Tournament crown. Murphy put up 20-points, secured 7-rebounds and provided 2-assists in the win over UW-Whitewater. Wartburg is now 11-0 and ranked No. 4/11 (D3hoops.com/WBCA). Murphy is now a three-time Women’s Basketball and Female Athlete of the Week honoree (1/1/18, 1/8/17, 1/1/17).
