Hernandez, a junior forward, scored three goals and two assists as Dubuque went 2-0-1 to open the season. He scored the game-winning goal in the Spartans' 2-1 win over Illinois Wesleyan and their 3-2 win over Hamline, then scored the game-tying goal in a 1-1, double-overtime draw with Macalester.
