Hernandez, a sophomore forward, netted two goals and an assist in Dubuque's regular-season finale -- a 4-3, double-overtime loss to Luther -- then added a goal and an assist in the Spartans' 3-1 IIAC Tournament first-round win over Simpson. Luther had allowed just five goals in six IIAC games headed into the Dubuque game. He finished the week with nine shots, including seven on goal, and finished first in the IIAC in shots and assists, second in points and third in goals during league play.
