Sawyer, a senior defender, was instrumental in handing Loras its first Iowa Conference loss since 2009 with a 3-2, double-overtime win on Oct. 1. She also recorded an assist against the Duhawks. Sawyer also helped lead the Spartans to a 5-0 shutout over Coe, which has the fourth-most shots attempted in the IIAC. She also scored her first two goals of the season on her first two shot attempts.
