Horton, a junior, was named the Most Valuable Track Performer at the Iowa Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships after recording a distance triple with wins in the mile, 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters -- all in championship meet-record times and all three just ahead of teammate Austin O'Brien. On Friday, he won the 5,000 in 14:27.80, bettering the mark of 14:45.17 set in 2009 by Wartburg's Brian Chenoweth. On Saturday, he won the mile in 4:13.13, breaking his own mark of 4:16.11 set last year, and the 3,000 in 8:24.56, bettering the mark of 8:31.20 set in 2004 by Loras' Dan Winder. Horton enters this weekend's last-chance meets ranked fourth nationally in the 5K, 12th in the 3K and 15th in the mile.
