Watson, a junior, shot a 1-under-par 70 Saturday to tie for medalist honors in a 93-golfer field at the University of Illinois-Springfield Invitational. He fired matching 35s on each nine, leading Central to a tie for second place in the team race with Davenport (Mich.) with a 298 total, one stroke behind the host Prairie Stars (297) in a field that consisted primarily of Division II teams. Sunday's second round was cancelled due to inclement weather.
