Nielsen, a senior free safety, intercepted a career-high two passes, broke up two others and made six tackles (three solo) in Buena Vista’s 29-28 come-from-behind victory over Dubuque. He also out-jumped the return team to recover the onside kick for the Beavers that led to the eventual game-winning touchdown. It was the first time this season a Dubuque quarterback had thrown two interceptions in a game. The first came in Dubuque territory and was returned 27 yards to set up BVU’s first score. Nielsen’s efforts helped Buena Vista close out the season with four consecutive victories. (IIAC Male Athlete of the Week)
