Brown, a junior quarterback, threw for 377 yards and three touchdowns and scored the game-winning touchdown on a 4-yard run as time expired in Buena Vista’s 34-32 win over conference co-leader Simpson. His passing total was the highest for a BVU quarterback in a single game since Eric Wiebers threw for 431 yards in a 28-20 win at Dubuque on Nov. 9, 2002. Brown’s touchdown passes were of 44, 26 and 78 yards. He completed 4 of 6 attempts, including ones of 21 and 33 yards, on the final drive. The rushing touchdown gave Buena Vista its first win over Simpson in Indianola since 1987.
