Pennings, a sophomore relief pitcher, picked up three saves in three appearances last week to put the Storm in a position to qualifiy for the Iowa Conference Tournament. He saved both halves of an April 30 doubleheader against Central, allowing one hit in one inning in a 4-3 game one win and two hits over three innings in a 5-3 game two victory. His third save came against Dubuque on May 5 when he allowed two hits and struck out one in 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief. Pennings now has six saves, tying the Simpson single-season record.
