Nielsen, a senior forward, averaged 23.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game as the Storm opened the year with a pair of victories and won the Wis.-Eau Claire Tip-Off Tournament. She had a 28-point, 10 rebound double-double on 10-of-19 shooting with an assist, a block and two steals in a 71-60 season-opening win over Wis.-La Crosse. The 23 points were a career-high. Nielsen scored 19 points on a perfect 9-of-9 shooting from the field as Simpson defeated host Wis.-Eau Claire, 70-52, avenging last year's NCAA Tournament loss at the hands of the Blugolds.
