Lucero, a junior, teamed with senior Michelle Schupbach to win the Flight A doubles title at the 2012 Iowa Conference Women's Tennis Individual Tournament. The pair defeated the Luther tandems of Hailey Johnson/Jenna Myers and Elise Allen/Maggie Helms in the quarters and semis, respectively, before topping Coe teammates Jordan Ferree and Laura Birky, 8-6, in the final. The title was the third for Lucero and Schupbach, tying an Iowa Conference record for doubles titles won by a tandem.
Lucero also won the Flight A singles title with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Schupbach. She had dropped only one game heading into the championship match. Lucero also won the title in 2010 and has qualified for five out of six Flight A finals in her three years at Coe.
