Paired together for just the second time this season, Khristenko, a senior, and junior Curtis Newman won a pair of matches at No. 3 doubles to help Coe to the 2012 Iowa Conference men’s tennis title. The pair defeated Dubuque’s Nikolay Gospodinov and Shawn Iben, 8-1, in the semifinals, then outlasted Luther’s Aaron Gendron and Tyler Zinnecker, 8-4, in the championship match. Khristenko also figured significantly into the team result in singles, picking up the championship-deciding team point with a 6-7 (1), 6-1, 6-4 win over Luther’s Ramesh Karki at No. 2 singles to improve to 18-6 in singles play.
