Morrison, a senior, competed in five events at the Drake Relays, finishing second in the long jump and sixth in the triple jump while also competing on Wartburg’s third-place 1,600-meter and 1,600-meter sprint medley relays and fourth-place 400-meter relay. She soared 20 feet, 2 1/4 inches (6.15 meters) in the long jump, breaking her own school record with a mark that ranks second in Division III history. Her 41-foot, 3-inch (12.57 meters) effort in the triple jump is just two inches shy of her personal-best mark set earlier in the month at the Wartburg Outdoor Select. The 400-meter relay finished in 46.67 seconds and the 1,600 sprint medley stopped the clock in 3:59.36. The 1,600-meter relay placed third 3:38.85. The squad, who had the fastest preliminary time, became the first team NCAA Division III relay to break the 3:40 mark. They finished just 0:00.70 behind Division II powerhouse Lincoln (Mo.). Both jumps stand as the best mark in Division III this season, as do the 400- and 1,600-meter relays. (IIAC Female Athlete of the Week)
