Simon, a senior, appeared in three games last week - starting two - and compiled a 2-1 record with an 0.71 earned-run aveage and 31 strikeouts in 19 2/3 innings. She allowed two runs on three hits while striking out 12 in a 2-1 loss at Simpson April 18. Against Dubuque April 21, she threw a complete-game one-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Coe prevailed 1-0 in game one. Simon then threw 6 2/3 innings of relief in game two, scattering two hits and striking out nine as the Kohawks came from behind to win 7-3 and complete the sweep. She had entered the game with one out in the top of the first inning and Coe down 3-0. During the week, Simon also moved into third place on the NCAA Division III career strikeouts list with 1,148. She also passed Simpson great Kelly Schade as the highest ranking Iowa Conference pitcher on the list.
