Elusme, a sophomore, was named the Most Valuable Field Performer at the 2012 Iowa Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships Feb. 24-25 at Cornell College. He won both the high jump and long jump and took second in the triple jump. In the high jump, he cleared 2.11 meters (6-11) to surpass the previous championship-record mark of 2.10 meters (6-10 3/4) set by Central’s Cale VanGenderen in 2004 and tied by Andy Stoecken, then of Cornell, one year later. He cleared 6.90 meters (22-7 3/4) in the long jump and 13.65 meters (45-0 1/2) in the triple jump. It was Elusme’s second consecutive title in the high jump.
