Wood, a sophomore, was named the Dick Walker Outstanding Wrestler at the 2012 Iowa Conference Wrestling Championships after winning the 149-pound crown with a 7-6 win over Coe's James Locke. Wood, the No. 2-seed, used an escape in the final seconds to upset the top-seeded Locke and win Loras' first Iowa Conference individual title since 2006 (Brad Bishop, 157#).
