Westfall, a senior, won the 133-pound title at the Simpson Invitational, defeating two ranked wrestlers. He opened the tournament by pinning Buena Vista's Landon Long in 1:15, then major-decisioned eighth-ranked Spencer Courier of Simpson, 11-3, before closing out the day with a 3-0 decision over Travis Evans of Grand View in the semifinals and a 10-5 decision over Adam Joseph of Concordia (Neb.) in the championship match. Evans was the NAIA's No. 3-ranked wrestler. Westfall was one of three champions from Coe, which captured the team title by one point over defending national champion Wartburg.
