Fiala, a junior, finished a combined 10-0 on the week and captured both the Flight A singles and Flight A doubles titles at the Iowa Conference Women’s Tennis Championship. Fiala opened her week with a pair of victories in a dual at Cornell – a 6-0, 6-0 win over Pavla Brachova at No. 1 singles and an 8-4 win (with Andrea Schupbach) over Cornell’s No. 1 doubles team. At the Iowa Conference Championships, Fiala posted four straight-set wins in Flight A, capturing her second individual singles title in three years with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over teammate Hannah Jensen in the championship match. Fiala paired with Schupbach to post four victories in the Flight A doubles draw, including a 9-7 win over Jensen and Hillary Allen of Coe in the final. Fiala and Schupbach battled back from a 7-2 deficit to capture the title. It was also the second doubles title in three years for Fiala, who missed last year’s individual championship while competing at the ITA Small College Championships.
