Loras Women Win NCAA Title, 30 From A-R-C Earn All-American Honors

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA. – Fifty-five American Rivers Conference student-athletes competed at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships May 23-25. Over three days of competition 24 individual All-American honors were earned and six relays garnered distinction. 2019 saw six individuals and two relays climbed to the top of the podium as national champions. Additionally, The Loras College women claimed the program's first-ever team title.

Saturday, May 25 Highlights
The Duhawk women made it a team effort to claim their 2019 National Championship on the final day of competition. Gabrielle Noland paced the women' with national titles in the 100 meter (11.48) and 200 meter (23.44). Her 200 meter time set a new NCAA Division III Championship record and a new American Rivers Conference All-time record. Noland teamed up with Terrianna Black, Alexis Alt and Bella Solis to win gold in the 4x100, clocking a time fo 46.30. The 4x400 relay squad of Noland, Stevie Lambe, Alt and Solis joined in on the fun, picking up a seventh-place finish to earn All-American status. Solis earned the silver medal in the 400 meter hurdles, running a time of 59.02. Kassie Rosenbum added a sixth-place All-American finish in the 5,000 meter to go along with her 10,000 meter national title. 

Nebraska Wesleyan women's 4x400 relay team won their fourth straight outdoor national title and seventh straight overall national championship. The team was made up of Anna Frazier, Elizabeth Jones, Aspen Rolfes and Kaylee Jones.
 
Kaylee and Elizabeth also earned All-American honors in the 400 meters.  Kaylee Jones ran a  time of 54.78 to finish as the National Runner-up while Elizabeth Jones was close behind to place 4th in a time of 55.53. 

Prairie wolf junior, Ellie Beirman ran to a fifth place finish in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. She ran a time of 10:56.23 to pick up All-American honors. NWU's women's 4x100 also earned All-American recognition. The 4x100 team placed 7th running a time of 47.31. Running on the relay team were Lindsey Wisnieski, Anna Frazier, Alexandra Daniel and Aspen Rolfes.

Dubuque's Alison Beeman doubled up on All-American accolades, placing fourth in the 100 meter (11.78) and claiming National Runner-up honors in the 200 meter 23.75). Spartan teammate Rebecca Burmahl also earned National Runner-up distinction. Burmahl's honors were earned in the hammer throw, with a mark of 54.45m (178-08). 

The Loras men were led by Patrick Mikel's 400 meter national title. Mikel clocked the 10th fastest time in NCAA Division III history, 46.27. The junior sprinter also earned All-American distinction in the 200 meter, finishing seventh in a time of 21.35. The 4x400 squad of Evan Gradoville, Tyson Morrison, Mike Jasa and Mikel combined for a time of 3:10.54 to earn National Runner-up honors. 

Wartburg's Dallas Wright clocked a time of 51.35 in the 400 meter hurdles to become Wartburg's first National Champion in the event since 2001. The Wartburg men's 4x100 relay team of Denison Harrington, Joe Duehr, Dallas Wright, Bryson Runge placed 7th with a time of 41.78. Casey Roberts also picked up All-American honors for the Knights with a third-place finish in the 800 meter. Roberts crossed the finish line in a time of 1:52.58. 

Blaze Murfin earned his third trip to the All-American podium on the final day of competition, this time placing sixth in the hammer throw with a mark of 59.85m (196-04). Colfay Pointer sprinted to a seventh place finish in the 400 meter to collect All-American accolades. Pointer crossed the finish line in a time of 46.97. 

Friday, May 24 Highlights
American Rivers Conference track and field athletes added five more All-American honors on day two of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. 

A second National Champion from the A-R-C was crowned on day two, with Central's Will Daniels earning his second consecutive title in the Decathlon. Daniels totaled 7427 points to best the field by 176 points. Blaze Murfin of Dubuque picked up his second All-American honor of the weekend with a fourth-place finish in the shot put (17.33m (56-10.25)). Adding to the men's honorees was Central's Drake Lewis, who earned eighth-place in the high jump with a cleared height of 2.03m (6-08.00). Two from the American Rivers recorded All-American marks in the women's shot put. Nebraska Wesleyan's Dayton Dolincheck took fifth-place (14.19m (46-06.75)) and Dubuque's Caroline Ferguson earned sixth (13.98m (45-10.50)). 

The final day of competition starts at 11:00 a.m.. The American Rivers Conference will have 18 individuals and six relay teams competiting in finals. 

Thursday, May 23 Highlights
Day one of the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships concluded with three student-athletes from the American Rivers Conference earning All-American honors.

Loras' Kassie Rosenbum highlighted the first day of competition, claiming gold in the 10,000-meter. Rosenbum crossed the finish line in a time of 35:39.88. On the men's side, Dubuque's Blaze Murfin added another All-American honor to his storied career. Murfin finished fifth in the discus with a mark of 50.12m (164-05). Trent Koehler also picked up All-American accolades with a leap of 7.33m (24-00.75), earning seventh in the long jump.

Competition resumes at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 24 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
