CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa --- The American Rivers Conference announced today that Loras College senior forward
Gretchen Schutz (Lodi, Wis./Lodi) has been selected as the league's Offensive MVP and Wartburg College junior defender
Zoey Campbell (Waverly, Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock) was named Defensive MVP. Loras College head coach

Wes Wolfe were voted American Rivers Coaching Staff of the Year. The 22-member All-Conference team and individual awards were nominated and voted by the Conference’s nine head coaches.
Schutz is earning her third all-conference honor and becomes the third Duhawk to receive Offensive MVP accolades, joining
Elizabeth Mills (2016), and
Katie Truesdale (2014, 2015). Prior to the MVP award being split to recognize an offensive and defensive standout in 2013, Loras had three players named conference MVP. Additionally, the Duhawks had one defensive MVP. Schutz finished conference play as the points leader at 19, coming by way of eight goals and three assists. Her eight goals were tops in the league, along with her 8.00 shots per game.
Wartburg's Campbell was part of a defensive unit that finished conference play ranked number-two in goals-against average at .759. The Wartburg backline allowed a conference-best four goals in eight games. In 19 total contests this season, Wartburg ranks 99th in NCAA Division III with a goals-against average of .924. This is the first all-conference team appearance for Campbell after earning honorable mention accolades the past two years. Campbell is the first Wartburg Defensive MVP since the conference split the award to honor an offensive and defensive player. The Knights have had one player named Offensive MVP and four overall MVPs. The Knight's recently received news that they were selected as an at-large bid to the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship. Wartburg will face No.23-ranked UW-La Crosse.

Wes Wolfe now add Coaching Staff of the Year. The regular-season title was Loras' third-consecutive and 12th overall while the tournament title was the second-straight and13th in program history. Through eight conference contests Loras averaged 3.875 goals/game to lead the league. Their scoring margin of 2.38 was also atop the league rankings. With 87 total points on 31 goals and 25 assists, Loras also owned the number-one spot in the conference. The Duhawks finished conference play at 7-1 and take an overall mark of 16-3 into this weekend's NCAA Division III tournament. As the league's automatic qualifier to this year's NCAAs, Loras was selected to face Adrian in the first round. This is the 11th Coaching Staff of the Year award for the Loras program and Coach Pucci's second as the head coach.
The Duhawks had four players in addition to Schutz named to the all-conference team, led by 2016 offensive MVP,
Elizabeth Mills (Sr., Brimfield, Ill/Peoria Notre Dame), who is making her third all-league team. Mills was also an honorable-mention selection as a freshman. Duhawk teammates
Kiki Cabrera (Waterloo, Iowa/Columbus),
Brynn Jacobi (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah), and
Jenny Wick (Iowa City, Iowa/Regina) also see their names on the 2018 all-conference roster. Mills ranked first in the league with an assists/game average of .714. She also owned the 12th-best point total (7) on one goal and five assists in just seven league games. Second-year forward Cabrera is earning her first all-conference accolade. In just seven conference games she averaged .429 assists to rank fifth in the league. Cabrera kept defenses on their toes, averaging the 11th-most shots/game (2.57). After earning honorable-mention honors last season, Jacobi was voted all-conference this season. The second-year midfielder totaled 13 points (6-goals, 1-assist) during conference play to rank third. Her six goals were tied for second in the conference, as were her two game-winning goals. Wick, a junior midfielder recorded three goals and four assists to rank tied for seventh in total points (10). Her four assists finished tied for third in the conference. In Loras' American Rivers tournament championship match Wick assisted on all three of her team's goals.
American Rivers Conference regular-season and tournament runner-up, Wartburg, placed three players on this year's team in addition to Campbell. Senior forward
Nicole Adair (Reinbeck, Iowa/Gladbrook-Reinbeck) is making her first all-conference team after an honorable mention selection last year. Adair scored four goals and added three assists to total 11 points for a third-place tie in the conference rankings. Her four-goal total tied for fifth in the league, as did her three assists. Making her second all-conference team is
Alyssa Drewelow (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Kennedy). The senior forward scored three goals in conference to tie for 12th in the league rankings. Two of her three goals were game-winners, which ties for second.
Marissa Lopez (Ankeny, Iowa/Ankeny Centennial) was one of two goalkeepers selected to this year's team. The first-year keeper finished with the conference's second-best goals-against average (.840) and fourth-best save percentage (.811). Playing 660:02 minutes in goal for the Knights she gave up just four goals, a league best amongst goalies who played five or more games.
The league's third-place team, Luther College had four players named to this year’s team in
Kennedy Bergren (Mahtomedi, Minn./Mahtomedi),
Hanna Christopher (Cedar Falls, Iowa/Gladbrook-Reinbeck),
Marta Springer (Cleveland, Minn./St. Peter), and
Sommer Stevens (Denver, Iowa/Denver). Bergren was one of two goal keepers honored this year. In this her sophomore campaign she owned the league’s top goals against average at .719. In 750:48 tending goal she allowed just six goals, which is tied for second in the conference. Her .833 save percentage tied for tops in the league. Christopher becomes a two-time honoree in her senior season. As a defender she was part of a Norse backline that held the top goals-against average in the conference at .719. In eight conference games Luther allowed just six goals, tied for second-best. Springer added to her 2017 all-conference selection and 2016 honorable-mention recognition this year. The senior midfielder tallied 11 points on five goals and one assists, tied for fourth in the conference. Her five goals stand alone at fourth-best. Two of Springer’s goals went down as game-winners, tying for second in the conference. Stevens, a 2017 honorable-mention performer makes the jump to all-conference in this her senior season. As a midfielder she was tied for first in total assists with five. She also added one goal, an important one, as it was a game-winner for the Norse.
University of Dubuque, saw five players' names on this year's all-conference roster. The 2017 Defensive MVP
Carissa Brown (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) is once again an all-conference selection. The sophomore defender was part of a UD backline that owned the third-best goals-against average in the conference (.973). Additionally, the defense allowed just six goals in eight games, tying for second in the league.
Lauren Cangelosi (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Hinsdale Central) is earning her second all-conference honor in the last two years. The senior forward was also an honorable-mention selection in 2015. Cangelosi totaled seven points on three goals and one assist during league play. Her three goals tied for 12th in the conference.
Alexa Martin (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/Prairie) becomes a two-time all-conference member after earning the honor a season ago. Martin was also an honorable-mention selection in 2016. The junior tallied three assists in league play, tying for fifth-best in the conference. She also added one goal. After earning honorable mention in 2017
Lexus Rose (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield South) is now an all-conference member. The senior midfielder scored a league-best three game-winning goals, and in just seven league games she scored total four goals to tie for fifth-best.
Olivia Sullivan (Richland, Mich./Gull Lake) is the fifth Spartan to be selected to this year's team. Sullivan was also an all-conference selection in 2017. Sullivan, a senior defender joined Brown and Spartan teammates on the backline that held league opponents to six goals.
Junior forward,
Erin Manion (Delafield, Wis./Kettle Moraine) and Central College teammate
Olivia Denham (Sr., Boundurant, Iowa/Bondurant-Farrar) are collecting their third all-league honors. Manion finished league play with nine points on four goals and one assist for a tie at ninth in the league rankings. With four goals she joined a seven-way tie at fifth in the conference. Denham, a forward for the Dutch, scored two goals, one of which was a game-winner, and had two assists in eight conference games.
Picking up her second-straight all-conference accolade is Coe College’s
Sydney Schroder (Iowa City, Iowa/City High). The sophomore forward recorded the league’s second-best point total at 15. She scored six goals and provided three assists. With six goals she is tied for second in the conference.
After back-to-back honorable-mention selections in 2016 and 2017, Nebraska Wesleyan’s
Kaitlyn Sullivan (Longmont, Colo./Skyline) is honored on this year’s all-conference team. As a junior forward she tallied four goals and one assist for a total of nine points. Her nine points in conference play is tied for ninth. With four goals she is part of the seven-way tie for fifth in the league rankings.
